KERALA CHAPTER OF ASSOCIATION OF DOMESTIC TOUR OPERATORS OF INDIA (ADTOI) INAUGURATED
{ 28th June 2007 }

The inauguration ceremony of the Kerala Chapter of ADTOI (Association of Domestic Tour Operators of India) was held on Thursday the June 28th 2007, at Mascot Hotel, Thiruvananthapuram. The Chapter was inaugurated by the Hon’ble Minister of Touism and Home Affairs, Govt. of Kerala, Mr. Kodiyeri Balakrishnan in the presence of Dr. Venu V., Secretary Tourism, Govt. of Kerala and Mr. Cherian Philip, Chairman. Kerala Tourism Development Corporation Ltd. and distinguished guests from Travel & Tourism Industry in Kerala, Press/Media.

ADTOI delegation comprising of its Executive Council Members led by President, Mr.Mukesh Jagga flew down to Trivandrum to open the chapater.

In his inaugural speech Hon’ble Minister of Tourism Mr. Kodiyeri Balakrishnan thanked Mr. Mukesh Jagga for his initiative in establishing ADTOI Chapter in Kerala to promote tourism in the God’s Own Country – Kerala State. He further stated that going by the statistics it is the domestic tourists who are major visitors to destinations in Kerala in comparison to inbound tourists. He was happy to see the domestic tourism growing in the state by substantiating with number of domestic tourists visited last year which stood at 60 lakhs as against 4 lakhs inbound tourists. He thanked the Tour Operators in the country for their valuable contribution in sending the tourists from all over the country to various destinations in Kerala. He stated that his Govt.’s emphasis will be on the development of infrastructure so as to boost domestic tourism in addition to the expansion of the hospitality industry and overall connectivity. He assured that State Govt. shall do all possible efforts to make the visit of the honoured visitors to the State from various parts of the country and abroad a memorable one.

Mr. Mukesh Jagga, President, ADTOI, in his address spoke on the various aspects in the domestic tourism industry, highlighting the various achievements Association had made with the Ministry of Tourism, Govt. of India, Service Tax Department and the Ministry of Railways. On the august occasion Mr. Jagga announced the nomination of Mr. Abraham George, Managing Director, Insight Holidays (P) Ltd., Kochi as the Chairman of ADTOI Kerala Chapter for the years 2007-09.

Mr. Abraham George, Chairman designate ADTOI Kerala Chapter during his speech thanked Mr. Mukesh Jagga for nominating him as the Chairman of Kerala Chapter. He assured both the State Govt and the President ADTOI that he shall work towards the progressive growth of domestic tourism in the State and also to take care of the interests of the Travel & Tourism Industry.

The aim of establishing Kerala Chapter is to carry the spirit of domestic tourism to new dimensions. The main objective of ADTOI was stressed by the three catchwords, SUVIDHA, SURAKSHA AND SOOCHANA, which denotes travel comfort by providing improvement of facilities, Safety and Security of visitors and dissemination of information net work. The aim is to make things easier and more pleasurable for travelers in every way.

The formation of Kerala Chapter of ADTOI is the first giant leap towards a level of accreditation for Kerala in the domestic tourism scenario in India and in international circle.
