ADTOI ORGANISES ROAD
SHOW AT DILLI HAAT IN ASSOCIATION WITH DELHI TOURISM AND JET AIRWAYS ON 8TH
AND 9TH OCTOBER TO SHOWCASEAND PROMOTE DOMESTIC TOURISM {
08 - 09th October 2005 }
To propagate and promote
domestic tourism among the public Association of Domestic Tour Operators of
India (ADTOI) National Body of Domestic Tour Operators, in association with
Delhi Tourism and Jet Airways organised a Road Show at Dilli Haat on 8th and
9th October 2005. 20 stalls were set up and Companies representing from the
Travel & Tourism Industry participated in the show.
The show
was mainly focused to bring awareness among the public about the tourism
potential the country has and how do they go about in planning and visiting
various destinations during their holidays. With ensuing festive season when
people plan to travel with their families on holidays the show could be of
great assistance in getting all travel related information and assistance.
The Road Show was inaugurated by Shri Arvinder Singh Lovely, Hon'ble
Minister of Tourism, Education & Culture, Govt. of NCT of Delhi on 8th
October 2005. Mr. Mukesh Jagga, President, ADTOI and Mr. Ramesh Negi,
Managing Director, Delhi Tourism & Transportation Development
Corporation Ltd. welcomed the Hon'ble Minister. The Hon'ble Minister after
lighting the inaugural lamp visited the stalls and met the press for
briefing.
Hon'ble Minister appreciated the initiative taken both
by ADTOI and Delhi Tourism to put up a show of this kind to educate the
public and bring awareness about the country's great tourism potential for
the tourists to visit various destinations. He explained various steps that
are being taken by the Delhi Govt. to promote Delhi as a major tourist
destination both domestically and internationally. He stated that tour
operators availing the services of conducted sightseeing tours by Delhi
Tourism would be given incentives.
Mr. Sanjay Saxena, General
Secretary, ADTOI stated that Delhi is presently being looked upon by the
tourists as the transit city to visit other destinations. He wanted that
this concept should be changed and Delhi should be made as a major tourist
destination for the people all over the country. He also appreciated the
steps taken by Delhi Tourism to bring out a literature on Cultural Heritage
of Delhi which is very educative and popular and desired that the same if
made available to travel fraternity all over the country it will go a long
way to promote Delhi and bring more tourist traffic to Delhi. He said that
Delhi Tourism's efforts to make the Heritage walk in Chandni Chowk is very
laudable and impressive.
ADTOI organized a cultural programme in
association with Jet Airways on 8th Evening during the Road Show which was
largely attended by the visitors to Dilli Haat. ADTOI also offered prizes
(holiday packages) to the visitors to Dilli Haat who were lucky in the draw
held on both days. ADTOI intends to have more such showsin Delhi and other
cities in future.
