Domestic Tourism Evening Organized by Adtoi on the Occasion of its AGM & Website Launching at Hyatt Regency

Association of Domestic Tour Operators of India (ADTOI) National Body of Domestic Tour Operators organized a ‘DOMESTIC TOURISM EVENING’ on the occasion of its 7th AGM at Hyatt Regency Delhi on 18th December 2004.

The major sponsors of the mega event were the Department of Tourism, Govt. of India, MP Tourism, Madhya Pradesh Govt. and Jet Airways.

The Chief Guest of the evening was the Hon’ble Minister of State (Independent Charge) Mrs. Renuka Choudhury. Among other dignitaries who participated were Shri Arvind Joshi, Secretary, Tourism, Govt. of Madhya Pradesh, Shri Amitabh Kant, Joint Secretary, Department of Tourism, Shri Ashwani Lohani, Managing Director, Madhya Pradesh State Tourism Development Corporation Ltd.

Mr. Jyoti Kapur, President, ADTOI while welcoming the Hon’ble Minister Mrs. Renuka Choudhury addressed the gathering stating that ADTOI is dedicating this day to honour the DOMESTIC TOURIST in the country who forms the backbone of the Tourism Industry. He emphasized that since 9/11 the countries world over have realized the importance of domestic tourism and even the biggest and the greatest Democracy – USA and the largest democracy India have recognized the given due place to this segment, which is an all season product not affected by any catastrophe and calamity. He appreciated the enterprise of our Hon’ble Minister to strengthen the infrastructure leading to destinations. He stated that 2004 has put AGE OF DOMESTIC TOURISM on a fast track and the focus is to develop planned destination, infrastructure and circuit development with the support of the central and state governments. He appealed to the Hon’ble Minister to look into the long pending request of the industry for a rationalization of taxes levied on Tourism Industry and also to recognize Domestic Tour Operator as a separate category and foster RESPONSIPLE tourism with good practices countrywide focusing on Unspoilt Nature. Minister released the DOMESTIC TOURISM MANUAL published by ADTOI which would be the stepping stone for DOMESTIC TOURISM's presence in the WORLD OF INDIA.

Hon’ble Minister in her speech thanked the President, ADTOI, Mr. Jyoti Kapur for organizing a ‘Domestic Tourism Evening’ to showcase the potential of domestic tourism in the country. She appreciated the great efforts that have been made by the Association in boosting domestic tourism in the country and assured Ministry's full support to ADTOI's endeavor to strengthen & substantiate sustainable Domestic Tourism in the Country. She explained the various measures that are being taken by the Govt. to encourage countrymen to visit places of interests across the country. She requested for cooperation and larger participation by industry people, NGOs to establish environmental eco-friendly tourism in the country. She assured of Govt. support in the industry’s endeavor to boost tourism which shall bring prosperity to all regions in the country. Hon’ble Minister released a Manual on Domestic Tourism brought out by ADTOI on the occasion.

Later ADTOI Website www.adtoi.com (Developed & Hosted by Sai Soft Technologies) was launched by Mr. Amitabh Kant, Joint Secretary, Department of Tourism.

The programme was followed by a product presentation by Mr. Ashwani Lohani, Managing Director, Madhya Pradesh State Tourism Development Corpn. Ltd. – PARTNER STATE on the tourism potential of Madhya Pradesh and a famous ballet ‘Mrignayani’ giving the travel trade an experience of the rich cultural heritage of Madhya Pradesh by MP Tourism.

The evening was an all around success and attended by members of ADTOI, invitees from Govt., Travel & Tourism Industry, State Tourism Boards, Airlines, Press/Media.
